About Susan
Dr. Susan Walsh teaches Forensic DNA Phenotyping, a course within the Graduate Certificate program in Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy. Dr. Walsh is an associate professor of biology at Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI), IN, where her laboratory focuses on understanding the genetics of human physical appearance, from pigment to facial structure, and its prediction from DNA. She was a research assistant at the University of Sydney, Australia, and a postdoctoral research associate in anthropology at Yale University, CT, USA. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in the last 10 years spanning the fields of genetics, forensics and bioinformatics. Her research has been funded by NIJ, DOD and NIH. She received her BS in biochemistry from University College Cork, Ireland, an MS in DNA profiling from the University of Central Lancashire, UK, and a PhD in forensic genetics from Erasmus University in the Netherlands.
