Tuition Discounts for Corporations, Public Safety, and Other Entities
The University of New Haven is pleased to offer tuition discounts to employees of various corporations and organizations, as well as public safety personnel. For students enrolled in our special online programs, please refer to the Special Graduate Online Program Discounts section for further information.
The University currently offers tuition discounts to the following groups and entities. Please note, these discounts are offered to matriculated students only and cannot be combined with an assistantship or other financial incentives, such as corporate sponsorship, full or partial scholarship, or sponsorship.

Alumni
University of New Haven alumni will automatically be granted a minimum of 20% tuition assistance for select graduate programs. Click here for more information.

Community
City of West Haven Employees (other than Fire or Police) are eligible for a 50% tuition discount.
A 30% tuition discount on our MPA program is offered to state employees, nonprofit employees, social workers, and local government employees.

Public Safety
A 50% tuition discount is offered to part-time and graduate students who are first responders and other active public safety personnel (local, state, federal, international) including:
- Police Officers
- Firefighters
- Volunteer Firefighters* (see eligibility requirements below)
- Full-time Emergency Medical Technicians
- Volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians*(see eligibility requirements below)
- Paramedics
- Dispatchers** (see eligibility requirements below)
- Social Services Investigators
- Corrections, Parole, Peace and Probation Officers
Active firefighters of the Allingtown Fire Department are eligible for a 100% tuition discount.
Disabled veterans and disabled law enforcement are eligible for a 50% discount on our Digital Forensics and M.S. Cyber Threat Intel & Financial Crimes programs.
A 30% discount on our Forensic Genetic Genealogy Certificate program is offered to any student employed in a crime lab or in law enforcement.

Special Graduate Online Program Discounts
Students enrolled in the following special online programs who fall into any of the above categories are entitled to a maximum 20% tuition discount per semester upon receipt of eligibility verification. Please see below regarding eligibility requirements.
In order to receive a tuition discount, students must submit verification of their employment to the Bursar's Office. Students will need to request a letter on their company letterhead from their human resources representative or their direct supervisor verifying their current employment. Letters must be dated no more than 30 days prior to the date of submission.
Employment verification letters should be emailed to Helen Brown at HBrown@newhaven.edu.
To continue receiving a tuition discount, employment verification letters must be submitted once per academic year and are due two weeks prior to the first day of classes.

Volunteer First Responders
Volunteer First Responders providing fire or emergency medical services must be in good standing as defined by their department, meet the eligibility requirements set forth by their department and submit a confirmation letter certified by the department chief or their designee. Confirmation must include verification that the volunteer has participated in a minimum of 40% of the department’s calls over the previous year.

Dispatchers
Dispatchers must work for a recognized PSAP. Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) are facilities operated on a twenty-four-hour basis, receive 9-1-1 calls and dispatch emergency response services, or transfer or relay 9-1-1 calls to other public safety agencies. Emergency response services include police, fire and emergency medical services. The PSAP is the first point of reception of a 9-1-1 call.

- Ph.D. Programs
The following programs are excluded from the tuition discount program:
- Executive MBA

These tuition discounts cannot be combined with any other institutional discount, award, grant or scholarship.
Tuition discounts are applicable to tuition charges only and are not retroactive under any circumstances. Discounts will not be applied to prior terms regardless of employment dates.
Academic tuition and fees are based on your enrollment status and number of credit hours.
